Why do we struggle with emotions and feelings? There is a deep rooted piece of who we are that seems to be socially unacceptable to talk about. Yet if we are to be wholistic followers of Christ, how are we to honestly love God if we haven’t learned to express the hurts and pains deep within us. It’s through the raw emotion and feeling that we authentically learn to love God with our Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength. So while it’s popular social etiquette to mask our feelings and cover up our emotions, The Blessed Soul strives to address these hidden thoughts and feelings. Through the Blessed Soul, we will face unspoken emotions head on. Not only will we create a space that approves conversations about these things as acceptable, but also take the moment to be real about hurts and pains. Inside of this authenticity, we will read scripture that echos our sentiment. And once we have fully understood and addressed these moments, we will speak blessing over the pieces of us that are often hidden and unpopular to talk about. The Blessed Soul is a daily podcast airing Monday through Friday each week. These episode range from 5-10 minutes. These Podcast are a product of calibratedvalues.com.

Crushed In Spirit

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
He delivers them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
So which one is it?
Does the Lord deliver those who are righteous and cry out to him, or are they brokenhearted? Because either he hears them, and saves them, or they are crushed in spirit. But brokenhearted and crushed in spirit, don’t equate to being saved. . . do they? What is Psalm 34:17-18 mean here?
I don’t know if you have ever been crushed in spirit before, or if you have suffered the agony of a broken heart. Neither of them feel good.
And we often get news or walk through something that devastates us.
IN these moments, it’s so hard to even cry out to the Lord.
Have you ever felt let down by God before?
The hardest thing with feeling this way, is that when we are let down by him, we certainly aren’t going to cry out to him.
I think that’s what the enemy would love for you.
When you are let down, or hurt - to feel like you can’t even cry out to God.
But the Psalmist is giving us the formula.
When we are in trouble, when we are broken hearted, or when crushed in spirit, it’s the righteous that still cry out any way. Listen to what verse 19 says, The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him form them all;
He doesn’t take them away. He doesn’t necessarily reverse time and take back the diagnosis, or reverse the outcome, revive the relationship or restore the position. But he does rescue and deliver you!
What does that mean?
